We are thrilled to announce that Medfield Heights Elementary has won its 3rd Access for All Grant through the Young Audiences of Maryland. With this support, Medfield Heights Elementary will host renowned Flamenco dancer and choreographer Anna Menendez on November 21st for (2) back to back morning assemblies. More information coming home in your student's folders!
The PTO is thrilled to continue to support dance and cultural performances in celebration of our school's incredibly diverse student community! Thank you to PTO member Tony Tsendeas for your continued grant writing assistance. Anna Menendez will engage students in a masterful performance of Spanish dance and Flamenco, while exposing them to the concept of how rhythm expresses emotions. Students will learn basic Spanish vocabulary, use map skills to locate and identify various Spanish-speaking countries, and gain an appreciation of Spanish culture and traditional dance. Artist Biography Anna Menendez is a Flamenco dancer and choreographer who studied extensively in Spain. She was the recipient of the Artists’ Fellowship award from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for excellence in Flamenco dance in 2003. She has performed in many operas and with the “La Truco Flamenco” dance company in Spain, appeared in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and performances with Carmela Greco. Comments are closed.
