Help us fill a bus to Annapolis to help advocate for funding for our school! We are facing a very large deficit in our funding for school year 17-18. Join us as we work with other city schools and the Baltimore Education Coalition (BEC) to rally in Annapolis for the funding our students deserve. We have 44 slots to fill. We will meet at Medfield Heights and board the bus at 4:30 pm to head to Annapolis. We will likely return around 9:15 pm. Please sign up to reserve your seat. Only sign up if you are 100% able to join us please!
Reminder! Tonight is the Community Budget Forum (Tuesday 02/21, 6:00-7:00) in the school library. Ms. Kilcoyne needs parent input on budget priorities in light of budget cuts for next year. What a great Super School Fundraising Event at Chuck E. Cheese. 15% of all event sales will be donated to Medfield Heights Elementary.
As you have heard, our school is facing severe budget cuts for the next school year and we need your help to make some noise and stand up for our children!! The Baltimore Education Coalition (BEC) is holding a rally in Annapolis next Thursday evening to demand the restoration of funding that has been cut from Baltimore City Schools' budget for 2017-18. The School Board is passing most of those cuts along to schools and Medfield Heights is faced with a $300,000 cut, which will mean cutting staff, programs and materials.
Twenty of our teachers have signed up so far. Now we parents need to do our part and fill the bus! We have bus transportation departing from Medfield Heights. Sign up here to join us on Thursday, February 23rd: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090544a4a82ea75-rally This is our chance to have our voices heard and to get some media attention. The BEC used a rally like this as part of their successful strategy to get funding for new school buildings and I’m optimistic that we can get a good result from this effort too.
