Please remember to wear your masks and keep socially distant! Let's usher in Fall with one last frozen treat from the Kona Ice truck. The truck will be parked from 2-4 pm on Wood Heights Ave. between the school and the Rec Center.
It's time for the first PTO meeting of the school year! Come Zoom with us as we discuss the best ways we can support our school during these crazy and uncertain times. Everyone is welcome! We're always looking for new members to pitch in, whatever your abilities.

Each of them have given so much to us over the years and have worked tirelessly for our students. If you are able please help us reach our goal by donating to the GoFundMe page for these beloved members of our school community. All proceeds will be split equally between the three of them.
Ms. Arlene White, our always smiling, always funny, always helpful secretary, is in need of our help. She just received back surgery and will now begin chemo for Myeloma. Arlene is always there for us and now let’s be there for her, her daughter, and her grandchildren during this difficult time.
A meal train has been set up for Ms. White here: www.mealtrain.com/trains/d3dy73 If you or someone you know will be registering a student for Pre-K or Kindergarten for the upcoming school year, please fill out this survey to alert our administration of your intentions: forms.gle/bB3v4sYNRniyKTeg7 . Registration for Priority 1 families begins May 15th, and Priority 2 families will begin registration on July 1st.
If you know of anyone who is considering MHES for the upcoming 2020/21 school year, our second virtual open house will take place with Ms. Kilcoyne and Ms. Chiavacci tomorrow evening at 7 pm. RSVP here to obtain the meeting link: forms.gle/Mq8Gz9hEnfPwvsQt6
I doubt any of us have breezed through the transition to distance learning for our students, but this has been an exceptional challenge for those MHES families without access to adequate equipment to facilitate online learning. We are pleased to have been able to recently purchase with PTO funds 12 new Kindle Fire tablets to distribute to students who need them. We are all in this new reality together, and we trust that our school community will continue to work together to help each other as we process and adapt to evolving circumstances.
Hey, all you fun-running MHES families! Thanks to your commitment to our new-format annual fundraiser, we raised over $7,000 for our school ($7,438 to be exact). A shout-out to Erin Bolton and the rest of the Fun Run Committee for their hard work organizing this first-time event, and for making the pivot to a virtual event when circumstances prevented it from happening at school.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! This year, the week of May 5-11 is a time when we come together to thank our amazing MHES teachers for all of their hard work and dedication. We might all be appreciating their special skills a little bit more this time around, as so many of us are coming to grips with how to help our students learn at home. As usual, the PTO has teamed up with MHES administrators to offer Target gift cards to every teacher as a small token of our gratitude. We wish we could thank you in person!
UPDATE: OUR FUN RUN WILL NOW BE A VIRTUAL EVENT!
