Dr. Karrie Shogren is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education and Associate Director of the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities at the University of Kansas. Her research focuses on self-determination and systems of support for students with disabilities. In addition, she has a specific interest in multiple, nested contextual factors that impact student outcomes. This webinar will give you a complete overview of self-determination and the skills associated with it. You will learn practical, research-based strategies that will enable you to promote student involvement throughout the transition planning process.

IEP Clinic workshopTuesday, December 2 Baltimore City Public Schools – Office of Special Education/ Partners for Success Resource Center for Families and Schools is sponsoring a IEP Clinic workshop on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. This workshop will provide parents a more in-depth understanding of the IEP so they can be better prepared and more comfortable participating as a member of the IEP Team. Participants can bring their child’s IEP to the workshop. Please note: Individual IEPs will not be written at this workshop. Great News: Participants will get a chance to visit the parent resource center after the workshop
